For my service project on Martin Luther King Day I worked with Mrs. Shannon Judd at the Ruffneck Dawg Grooming salon in White Oak.  I helped her clean Christmas decorations from the windows and sweep dog hair off the floors.  My favorite part of the day was helping Mrs. Shannon bathe some of the dogs.  She was busy and I am glad I got to help her.

I think that Francis Hopkinson made the first flag because his grandson had receipts to prove it when they turned out to be the wrong one he could have accidentally  gotten the wrong one. A lso his grand father could have been a flag maker.

 Last week was red Ribion week. We had all different  things that we wore to school. It all means no drugs and to tell us that drugs are bad for you. I think that that is a great and fun way to tell us.

Today I worked on making pottery for the town. To make the pottery you must have plenty of clay.some of the types of things that we make are mugs, bowls, and jugs.We also have to add sand to make it stronger.Our clay has to be spun on a potters wheel which all you can do to make it spin is by pressing a foot pedal. After it has been spun on the wheel with are thumbs we make a hollow hole in the middle of the clay. Soon a bowl will form. Then for making the handle or spout to your potter you will use molds. Every piece has to be bone dry before it gets firing in the kiln. When it is done it has to dry very slowly so it does not crack. Another thing that we make are redware (pots). The pots where rough and lead was underneath. Later on we begin making stone wear. Like clay but we add more sand. A way that some farmers made some of their money was by making pots themselves to sell to their neighbors. Often we will use the same clay as the book maker does. Before we start forming the potter we must get all the little air bubbles out by pressing down very hard. Some every day things that we do in the town are, I bet you are used to going to a big store with every thing in it to get your clothes. That is not how it is in colonial times we have to make our clothes.

Homecoming is where anyone who has ever graduated  from White Oak comes back to visit. I think that for the people who went here many years ago it lets them take time to remember the good times that they had at White Oak. When I   graduate  and get to comeback to see everyone I hope that some of my old teachers will still be there.

I chose Plymouth because the pilgrims where followers of Jesus but still had parties and things. With the Puritans they came for the freedom to worship. So did the pilgrims it’s just that the puritans thought that that it was against God to have fun.
